On the Evaluation of Both Spatial and Temporal Performance of Distributed Hydrological Models Using Remote Sensing Products

Evaluating the spatial and temporal model performance of distributed hydrological models is necessary to ensure that simulated patterns are meaningful. In recent years, remote sensing data have been increasingly used for evaluation. Previous studies, however, focused on either or addition, (or spatial) evaluation often conducted in a spatially temporally) lumped approach. Here, we evaluated (1) approach (spatiotemporal) (2) temporally (temporospatial). We further demonstrated both spatiotemporal temporospatial evaluations since they provide different aspects performance. For this, case study was developed using Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) Upper Baitarani catchment India, against three remotely based actual evapotranspiration (ETa) products (MOD16 A2, SSEBop, TerraClimate). The results showed an increase would not necessarily lead vice versa, depending statistics. Overall, this has highlighted necessity joint understand/improve behavior/performance.
